- Eastern Michigan University is my alma mater. I graduated in April 2010 with my BS in Special Education. I also minored in English and general music.
- I am back at EMU studying for my Masters in English-Written Communication with a focus on Teaching of Writing. I expect to be done April of 2013.
- I work as a special education teacher at a high school, and I wouldn't change it for the world!
- I am certified to teach secondary (6-12) English and K-12 special education-cognitive impairment.
- I'm an English junky and have been tutoring or teaching English in some way or some form since the age of 15.
- I am also a tech-junky. The senior thesis for the Honors College for my undergrad program was focused on alternative augmentative communication devices. I interned through the Mott Family Network at UMHS for 2 1/2 years and was exposed to multiple forms of using technology to access education. I enjoy that technology is never-ending.
- I love school. I was homeschooled the majority of my life (3-12). I graduated from high school a year early. I also dual-enrolled at a community college. So, when I graduated with my high school diploma, I graduated the month before with my Associates in Liberal Arts.
- I am a Christian, and I have this awesome relationship with Jesus. He is the center my life.
- I do a lot of worship leading, and I am in school to become a certified worship leader. I will be done at the end of September of this year.
- Music is a huge part of my life. I studied piano for 13 years (through college) and still play it regularly. I also studied flute, piccolo, oboe, violin, and clarinet.
- Outside of school and work, I enjoy swing dancing. I dance mostly East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, and Charleston. However, I recently learned West Coast Swing and loved it!
- Growing up, I participated in "different" sports, such as competitive roller skating and competitive jump rope. If you want to know more, I love talking about them...so just ask!
- I have a bucket list (and a personal blog), which you can check out HERE.
About Me
You'd probably like to know a little more about me, as this blog, obviously, focuses on my reflections and interpretations on all things English. So here a few things you can take away:
